The Philadelphia Flyers are one of many teams to have been linked to a trade of top scorer Claude Giroux for a top prospect in defenseman Shea Weber.
The Flyers have been rumored to be shopping Giroux, as they’ve reportedly been linked by some to the Los Angeles Kings and Pittsburgh Penguins in the past.
They also have been said to be interested in acquiring the Chicago Blackhawks’ Nick Leddy.
But the Flyers have also been linked in recent days to the Nashville Predators.
The Predators are reportedly willing to trade defenseman Alexander Ovechkin to the Flyers in exchange for a second-round pick, according to NHL.com’s Mike Chambers.
The Nashville deal could help the Flyers to acquire the 18th overall pick in next year’s draft, which could then be used to select a top defenseman.
The Eagles, however, have had a history of dealing away top players for prospects.
The Philadelphia Eagles have traded defenseman Jordan Weal to the St. Louis Blues for forward Nick Cousins, center Jakub Voracek, forward Justin Williams, and defenseman Brian Boyle.
The Blues and Flyers are the only teams with at least three players that have traded their first-round picks for top prospects.
